[24].Surah An-Nur [The
Light]
Ayat 1. (This is) a Surah (chapter of the Qur’an) which Allah have sent down and which We have enjoined, (ordained its legal laws) and in it Allah have revealed manifest Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations lawful and unlawful things, and set boundaries of Islamic Religion), that you may remember.
[Tafseer] Surah Nur is Madni and contain 64 ayats, A surah which Allah have sent down and which Allah have ordained in it have We sent down Clear Signs, in order that ye may receive admonition. It must not be thought that the checking of illegal offences or of minor improprieties, that relate to illegal relationship or privacy, are matters that do not affect spiritual life in the highest degree. These matters are intimately connected with spiritual teaching such as Allah has sent down in this Surah. The emphasis is on these things are not mere matters of convenience, but Allah has ordained them for our observance in life.
